artspace@emmanuel update

Happy New Year to all the artists, stewards and supporters of the Artspace at Emmanuel.

Walk in My Shoes
Calling all artists – the title of next open exhibition will be ‘Walk in My Shoes’, submissions in any medium will be gratefully received week commencing 6th February 2026.

2025 was a very successful year with the increasing visitor numbers to the five exhibitions: ‘In the Moment’, ‘Cross Roads’, ‘All Creatures’, ‘At the Door’ and ‘Let There Be Light’. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who stewarded the opening times and to all the artists who provided such an amazing variety of works to display. I am confident that 2026 will be even better.

‘Let There Be Light’ 4th January 2pm to 4pm Last chance to see this lovely exhibition, full of bright lights, and an invitation to all our artists who have contributed to exhibitions throughout 2025 to join in the celebration with a glass of mulled wine and the last of the Christmas Cake.

Painting – Saturday 24th January 10am to 3pm
We would be grateful for any volunteers who can sand, fill and paint (sadly with white emulsion only) the Artspace exhibition boards at any time on this day.

Cleaning – Saturday 31st January 10am to 12 noon Volunteers are needed to clean the Artspace windows, sills and floors. Any help would be appreciated.

Art Club - The Art Club sessions throughout 2025 were well supported, and finished works collectively displayed within the exhibition programme. The next two guided workshops with focus on work for the February exhibition, ‘Walk in My Shoes’

Sunday 11th January 2026 - 2:00 – 4:00 pm – Guided Workshop “Peeble Painting” inspired by ethnic designs from Africa and the Middle East.

Sunday 8th February 2026 – 2:00 – 4:00 pm – Guided Workshop “Theatrical Shoes” – decoupage techniques.

Sessions cost £3 per person, to cover materials. All are welcome.

Evening Prayer @ Emmanuel
I would like to encourage you to join me for Evening Prayer in Emmanuel Church on Thursdays from 5.30pm. It is the gift of one hour to sit and reflect on the Bible and, in response, pray for our church, community and wider world.

5.30pm-6.30pm every Thursday in Emmanuel Church

Night Prayer
Monday 8pm
Night Prayer takes place in Emmanuel Church at 8pm on Monday evenings

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY 2026 - One Body One Spirit
Thursday 22nd January 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church at 7.00pm
Sunday 25th January 2026 at Saltburn Methodist Church at 3.00pm

This year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity takes Ephesians 4.1-13 as its central text which includes the words “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” (Ephesians 4:4). The prayer and reflections have been prepared by Christians of Armenian Apostolic (Orthodox) Church, along with their brothers and sisters of the Armenian Catholic and Evangelical Churches.
