Children and Young Families

Treasure Seekers
Sundays at the 10.45am Service

Treasure Seekers runs on three Sundays every month with the occasional fifth Sunday. We are able to divide the children into two age groups which we believe helps them interact. We usually get at least forty minutes with the children and begin with a game together. We are an extended family and enjoy creating opportunities for the children to get to know each other.

The Party
Every third Sunday
4–5pm in ECHO

Aimed at primary school children and their families and lasting only an hour, it will run from 4pm-5pm on the third Sunday of the month. The atmosphere will be one of a party with a darkened room, lights, music, a lively host, games, songs and interactive activities ending with party-like finger food. Adults bringing children will need to stay and will be offered a glass of wine to extend the party atmosphere to them too. Please pray for The Party, and spread the word to those you know.

Family Drop-In
Wednesday 1–3pm in ECHO

Tiny Tots is a Family Drop In, for families of children from birth to three years old. It is held in the ECHO building, behind the Church, every Wednesday (term time only) from 1pm–3pm. It provides a place for children to play in a safe and organised environment, and also for their carers to meet with other carers over a hot drink and a biscuit.

Open the Book

Open the Book is a programme which comes within the Bible Society. It enables stories from the Bible to be presented in primary schools by teams of volunteers from local churches. There are thousands of teams in the UK.

At Emmanuel there are currently nine regular members of the team. Our usual way of operating is to take assembly each Wednesday morning at Saltburn Primary School. One person introduces the story which is then presented by members of the team taking roles, with a narrator doing the majority of the storytelling. The story concludes with a practical application and the session finishes with a song.

Home Groups meet via Zoom or face to face when they are able. Other social media such as WhatsApp have also allowed ongoing group discussions and prayer. They enjoy discussing themes from the Bible or Christian books and praying together.
Anyone who would like to join a group is welcome. Just let us know and we'll arrange it.

Music

Emmanuel is gifted not just with people who have musical and technical ability but also by a growing number who share a passion to encounter God through music as part of their daily worship. Please join us in praying for an increased awareness of the importance of declaring the glory and splendour of our God through music.

The Waiting Room

All are welcome in the Waiting Room. It will be a quiet time with God. A time to fix our thoughts and our hearts on Jesus. A psalm or a line of scripture will be shared, there will be Taize/meditation music playing. There will be bibles, reading material and notebooks.

Psalms and Stretches
Fourth Saturday of the Month 9.30am–10.30am in ECHO

Psalms and Stretches is a moving meditation to the words of the Psalms. There are prayers, reflections, meditation and sequences of moves put to the words of the Psalms. Classes take place at ECHO, the fourth Saturday morning of each month. Numbers and outreach seem to be growing. There is a real mix in ages and abilities and people can attend even if they can only participate from a chair.

Green Christians

Green Christians is a national fellowship of Christians that has been praying and working for a kinder, gentler, more sustainable world in the 1980s. In recent years the work has become more urgent as the full extent of the climate and environmental emergency has become apparent. Visit the Green Christian website greenchristian.org.uk and find out more. There is a local group at Emmanuel, who in the past organised a 48-hour prayer vigil at Emmanuel Church to coincide with COP26; we have a variety of activities planned for the future.
