Worship

We believe in worship that is reverent, real and celebrates our beliefs. We believe that such worship gives us deep roots from which to live our lives to the full.

Sunday worship and services

The 9 o'clock service: traditional communion
Accompanied by a piano or organ and a choir, we stand united as the people of God declaring His praises each Sunday in time honoured fashion.  Join us as we say and sing the wonderful news of Jesus together each week, bringing to mind and committing to memory the saving truth of Jesus Christ whilst meeting Him in the breaking of bread.

The 10.45 service: Contemporary preaching, prayer and praise
Particularly popular with families, join us as we praise our Risen King with voices raised, led by a worship band or media system.  In this service we wait on the Lord in prayer and praise.  With a special emphasis on teaching, on getting deeper into the Scriptures—and with an openness to the movement of the Holy Spirit—this service is a powerful and lively reminder that God is a God of action and awesome wonder.

The All EngAge service: all ages learning and worshipping together
On the 4th Sunday of the month we hold the All EngAge service in ECHO at 10.45am. This is a short, focused and informal act of worship for everyone.

"Worship at Emmanuel is very welcoming, it is not at all daunting to new people."

Worship and services during the week

Morning Prayer - Monday to Friday 9.00am till 9.30am on Zoom
Each morning the ministry team and others meet together for prayer.  In a comfortable and safe environment we start by reading a psalm together—a song from the Bible—before lifting up praise to God and thanking Him for everything in our lives.   Following this we have a reading from the Bible, a short written reflection and a time for questions and testimony.  We close morning prayer with a time to ask God for the things on our hearts and minds.

Tuesday Communion - Tuesdays at 9.30
Each Tuesday we meet after morning prayer to celebrate Holy Communion in church.  This is a quiet and welcoming service without songs or hymns.   After the service we have refreshments in the hall until 11am.

Evening Prayer - Thursday 5.50 - 6.30pm
A quiet and reflective time of prayer as the day draws to a close.

Night Prayer - Monday 8pm
Night Prayer takes place in Emmanuel Church at 8pm on Monday evenings

"Glorifying God and listening to His word is at the heart of all services at Emmanuel."
